30th Anniversary of God's Calling into Full-Time Ministry
Steve Kuban Journal — December 23, 2012
30 Years Ago Today
What a wonderful few hours I have just had with the Lord this day! He spoke and revealed to me so many things that I can’t even begin to share them all here. But one thing I must tell you about which He revealed to me is this:
Exactly 30 years ago, Dec. 23rd, 1982 while kneeling at my bed in my home in Edmonton, the Lord spoke these words to me:
“I’m calling you into full-time ministry.”
It was clear and unequivocal, and those few unforgettable moments with Him mark the second most pivotal moment in my life. (The first was my conversion to Yeshua from atheism, which had taken place three years earlier while I was a student at Berklee College of Music in Boston.)
That day at my bedside the Lord spoke three things to me:
He was calling me into full-time ministry (something I felt could be coming, but which I secretly hoped would never happen).
My job as in-house pianist and music group leader at the prestigious Center Club in Edmonton would end soon, and it would be the end of my work as a secular musician.
I was to purchase an 8-track ½-inch tape recorder before the end of the year, and use it to record an album, and then travel the coming summer singing gospel concerts.
I received His wonderful words to me, and that evening I spoke with the manager of the Center Club. We agreed that my last day performing at the club would be two months later, at the end of February 1983.
A few days later on New Year’s Eve I bought a Tascam 80-8 multi-track tape recorder—just moments before the music store closed. From the music store I proceeded to the Center Club to perform my final “New Year’s Eve” gig, knowing it would be my last as a secular musician.
The story of what happened in the days following, and the story of what has happened in my life for the past 30 years since that magnificent and special day would take a book to write. And I do hope to write it soon. I will add more as the days allow. Keep watching this website for more.
"Thank You precious Yeshua, Father God, Holy Spirit, for being so very close to me all these years. Thank You for sovereignly calling me to do Your will with my little life, and guiding me every step of the way. Nothing brings me greater joy than worshiping You, hearing Your voice, and seeing Your face my dear Father God Yahveh Elohim! May I fulfill Your will for my life, and bring many lost souls to You with each day I live, until I see You face to face and hear you say, "Well done My good and faithful servant. Enter into the joy of the Lord your God!"
